- Frances Mayes grew up in Fitzgerald, Georgia, and attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College and the University of Florida. She is a poet, essayist and professor of creative writing at San Francisco State University. She relocated to Cortona, Italy after she bought and renovated a rundown Tuscan farmhouse, Bramasole (literally, "yearning for the sun"), in 1990. Her memoir, `Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy' was published in 1996, as was named a New York Times Notable Book of 1996, and was followed by a second memoir, 'Bella Tuscany.' Her books of poetry include 'Sunday in Another Country,' 'After Such Pleasures,' 'The Arts of Fire,' 'Hours,' 'The Book of Summer,' and 'Ex Voto.' She is also the author of 'The Discovery of Poetry,' a college textbook. She divides her time between Cortona and San Francisco.

Garrett Fletcher is a television editor based in NYC. Originally from Fitzgerald, Georgia, he attended college at the University of Notre Dame, and moved to Chicago, Illinois, shortly after graduating in 2004. Garrett spent a year and a half as a tape operator and online editor before moving into offline editing with the comedy series "Sports Action Team." He has since edited numerous television series ranging from documentaries to comedy to reality for over 15 different networks. In addition, he has edited a variety of commercials, political spots and informational webisodes. Garrett married his wife, Jessica, in March of 2009, and in February 2010, they welcomed their son into the world. In June of 2011, Garrett and his family moved to New York City.- Frank Callan was born in Philadelphia, PA. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and was being trained at Fort Knox as an Army Tank Commander when the war ended, so he never had to serve overseas or in battle. While visiting the USO in Louisville, Kentucky, he met Virginia Rae (Anger) Callan.
Frank and Virginia loved ballroom dancing and frequently danced as did others of their generation. Big Band era music has always been their favorite style of music.
From the 1950s until the 1970s, he loved shooting 8 mm family films; then Super 8 films in the 1970s-1980s.
During the 1960s, he attended night school at the University of Louisville and graduated with a BA in Business Administration in 1968.
Frank and Virgina have seven kids, seven grandchildren, and a growing number of great-grandchildren. Their third oldest son, David Callan, has over 40-years of working in TV. David's son, Michael Callan, operates score boards for major TV network games on regional/national TV.
After his Honorable Discharge from the United States Army, he has belonged to the Zachary Taylor Post 180 of the American Legion in Louisville, Kentucky.
During his lifetime of employment, he held a wide variety of employment from insurance, real estate, health industry, management, security, sales, and related areas.
He attends meetings with the Kentuckiana Cinematography Club (KCC) in Louisville, KY, started by his youngest son, Brennan James Callan. In 2012 and 2013, Frank acted in feature films at the age of 78 and 79 years old. During the retirement of Frank and Virginia, Brennan has involved his parents in various film productions of his own as well as other production companies to keep them active.
In 2013, Frank's lower right leg was amputated to save his life. The insurance ran out 100 days later; he returned home. Then fell and broke his right humorous bone about a month later. 2013 was particularly difficult spending most of that time in nursing homes and hospitals. - Jack Kassewitz was born on 1 February 1914 in Fitzgerald, Georgia, USA. He was an actor, known for Harry & Son (1984). He died on 16 April 1984 in Miami, Florida, USA.

- Forrest Grady "Spec" Towns was born on February 6, 1914 in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Towns grew up in Augusta, Georgia and played football as a high school student at Richmond Academy. Following graduation from Richmond Academy in 1933, Forrest went on to attend the University of Georgia on a track scholarship and took up hurdling under the expert tutelage of esteemed Hall of Fame coach Weems Baskin. While in college Towns specialized in high hurdles: He won both the Amateur Athletic Union and National Collegiate Athletic Association titles in the 120 yard hurdles in 1935 and enjoyed an extraordinary winning streak in sixty consecutive hurdle races that lasted until 1937. Forrest subsequently won the gold medal in the 110 meter men's hurdles at the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin, Germany. In the wake of his Olympic triumph Towns three weeks later set a new record in men's hurdles at a meet in Oslo, Norway that remained unbroken for fourteen years. Moreover, he won the Amateur Athletic Union title in 1936, the National Collegiate Athletic Association title in both 1936 and 1937, and the Amateur Athletic Union indoor title in 1938. In addition, Forrest was the head track and field coach at the University of Georgia from 1946 to 1975. Towns died at age 77 on April 9, 1991 in Athens, Georgia. The University of Georgia paid tribute to Forrest with the naming of the Spec Towns Track in 1990 as well as an annual meet called the Spec Towns Invitational.
